FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers to every question

Dehumidification is not an easy task. So, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help you answer them.

Dehumidifiers manage humidity levels by extracting moisture from the atmosphere. It makes the rooms tolerable to people with allergies. Ultimately lowering humidity makes it difficult for mold, mildew and dust mites to thrive.

If you notice any of these signs in your home, it's time to put a dehumidifier to work:

1. sticky, swampy or stuffy rooms.

2. Condensed windows.

3. Musty odors.

4. An increase in mold or mildew.

5. Water stains on walls or ceilings.

6. Increasing problems with pests.

7. Rotting or warping wood.

8. Aggravation of allergy symptoms.

Of course, it will. It creates a dry space for you, even in a swamp environment.

When power is restored, the device will run as it was last set.

The presence of moisture is the main problem in the basements. Superfluous moisture in this basement may lead to the growth of molds. Such molds damage property and are the number one causes of the low quality of indoor air. Also, increased odors as a result of off-gassing by the mold spores can make the house inhabitable. Moisture and other allergens can damage assets such as furniture.

Molds remain "dormant" in the air or on surfaces even when there is no excess moisture for them to grow. ... To answer your question, dehumidifiers do not kill mold, but they do prevent it by reducing humidity. If you have a mold problem in your home, do not wait. Mold will spread as long as it has a water source.

Dehumidifiers are electrical devices that remove water from the air. Using a dehumidifier can help lower the humidity in an overly humid home. They can also reduce the formation of mold and dust mites.

A dehumidifier is most effective at warmer temperatures and higher relative humidity. Mold can grow at relative humidity levels above 60%, resulting in musty smelling air and unhealthy mold spores in the air. The ideal relative humidity should be between 30% and 50%.

Yes! Dehumidifiers, especially in musty or damp environments, are a great way to remove moisture from the air, which can improve overall air quality.

When crawl space humidity is too high, either as a result of a leaky crawl space or high humidity, it causes wood rot. It also leads to mold growth and increases destructive pests. If the humidity in the crawl space is too high, it will migrate to other rooms in the house due to a "chimney effect".

Basically, a dehumidifier uses much less electricity than a water heater, air conditioner or even a hair dryer. An average dehumidifier uses about as much energy as a computer.

The temperature usually drops during the night. Relative humidity is usually higher at night. ... If the humidity in the air remains unchanged and the temperature rises, the maximum amount of moisture that the air can hold increases.

Most dehumidifiers work best at normal room temperatures. If your basement is normally rather cold, a standard dehumidifier may not work well and could suffer premature damage. Instead, look for a unit that can handle cold temperatures.

While your dehumidifier is busy removing moisture from the air, it's also accumulating all sorts of nasty stuff - mold, bacteria, mildew. Regular cleaning (at least once every couple of weeks) is an important part of maintenance, especially during times when it is used frequently.

It is energy-efficient, has a large capacity and is of high quality. The dehumidifier is reliable and has superior filtration (MERV-8). It also comes with bumper-to-bumper warranty service. Our Difference

Stuffy odors are as a result of excess moisture in the basement and crawl spaces. The air below the house then moves to other sections of the house carrying the odor. Typically, the odor originates from off-gassing of molds after they forage on organic materials. By getting rid of the moisture, you also eliminate the mold menace.

Wood-rot occurs when moisture levels are higher than the wood fiber saturation point. This could be approximately 27%-28% moisture content.

Very high humidity affects the comfort of your home by making you feel clammy, hot or cold and sticky. It also leads to stench in the home. When mold feeds on organic matter, off-gassing occurs quickly. By solving the moisture issue, you get rid of mold.

The efficiency of CADPXS dehumidifiers exceeds energy standards. The units are energy efficient and save you from spending your hard earned money on utility bills. The dehumidifiers use as much energy as other conventional units, but remove all the moisture and make you feel good.

Basically, room temperature humid air enters the dehumidifier where it is then cooled to its dew point, releasing its moisture. ... The overall result is that the air returning to the room may be warmer than the air that entered the room.

Dehumidifiers regulate humidity by removing moisture from the air to create living spaces that are comfortable for people and inhospitable to dust mites, mold and other allergens. Choose the dehumidifier.

The presence of moisture is the main problem in basements. Excess moisture in this basement can lead to the growth of mold. Such molds harm the property and are the main cause of poor indoor air quality. Increased odors from the off-gassing of mold spores can also make the house uninhabitable. Moisture and other allergens can damage values such as furniture.

Excess moisture entering through leaky, ventilated crawl spaces contributes to wood rot, mold growth, and increased pest activity, including infestation and colonization. Moisture in crawl spaces often migrates to the upper floors of the home through a "chimney effect."

Musty odors are usually a result of high humidity in crawl spaces and basements. This polluted air under the house eventually moves into the rest of the house, bringing musty odors and other contaminants with it. The musty smell in your home is caused by the off-gassing of mold spores that feed on organic materials. Solve the moisture problem and you will solve your mold problem.

Wood rot occurs when the moisture content is higher than the saturation point of the wood fibers. This is at a moisture content of about 27%-28%.

The 8 most common pests that can cause damage in an apartment are termites, carpenter ants, powder beetles, carpet beetles, cigarette beetles, grain beetles, house mice and Norway rats.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, health problems associated with poor indoor air quality include eye irritation, allergies, headaches and respiratory illnesses such as asthma. These problems can be directly related to the presence of mold and dust mites in the home. One of the recognized solutions to combat these health problems is effective humidity control.

High humidity can greatly affect your well-being by making you feel either hot and sticky or cold and clammy, especially in the basement, while also contributing to musty odors in the home. Musty odors are caused by mold spores off-gassing as they feed on organic materials. Solve the moisture problem and you will get your mold problem under control.

There are three main sources of moisture in your home: the first source is leaks, the second is diffusion through materials, and the third is internally generated moisture.

Stack effect is the movement of warm, dry air rising and escaping through the upper levels of the home and cooler, wet air finding its way into the lower levels in order for the home to equalize.

The most important factor to consider when deciding how many gallons of water removal you need for your spaces is infiltration from the ground and outside air - experts say that about 95% of the moisture that enters a building comes through air infiltration. It's also important to make sure your basement or crawl space is sealed, as this also factors into the overall size of a space.

Air movement breaks down boundary layers on surfaces, promotes air mixing, reduces stagnant microenvironments, and helps transfer thermal energy into the components being protected.

The purpose of ventilating a home is to maintain a healthy and safe living environment.

The reason for the increase in indoor air pollution in today's homes is a direct result of our efforts to conserve energy and save money. As techniques and materials have improved to insulate and seal our homes, the result is stale and polluted air trapped inside.

Common sources of indoor air pollution include:

1. Chemicals used in the construction or renovation of buildings.

2. Appliances that burn gas

3. Wood burning stoves and fireplaces

4. Pets

5. Outgassing from furniture, cabinets, floors and countertops.

6. Penetration of ozone, pollen and mold from the outside.

7. People

8. Detergents

The rate at which outdoor air replaces indoor air is called the air exchange rate. When there is little natural or mechanical ventilation, the air exchange rate is low and pollutant levels can increase.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, homes that are designed and built to minimize the amount of outdoor air that can escape into and out of the home can have higher pollutant levels than other homes, unless they are equipped with mechanical ventilation. However, because some weather conditions can dramatically reduce the amount of outdoor air that enters a home, pollutants can accumulate even in homes that are normally considered leaky."

Relative humidity (RH) is the amount of water vapor in the air, expressed as a percentage of the maximum amount of water the air can hold at a given temperature.

Due to temperature variations, RH can vary drastically. In fact, it is not uncommon for RH to range from 50% to 100% in the same house during the summer. Warmer air contains more water than cooler air, and for every one degree change in temperature, RH changes by about 2%.

Let us say you live in a house with a basement. If the temperature on the main floor is 77°, the temperature in the basement may be only 67°. Although there is only a 10° difference in temperature, the difference at RH is 21%. Since the temperature in the basement is closer to the dew point of 62°, it will probably also feel damp.

Homes built on a floor slab have a similar problem. Even if the room temperature is 77°, the temperature on the slab is much cooler. As the slab temperature approaches the dew point temperature, RH rises and condensation can form. When this happens, mold, mildew and other biological growth soon follow.

Other symptoms of high humidity are:

- Musty odors

- Allergic reactions to mold or dust mites

- Shriveled wooden floors

- Sticky or clammy feeling

- Visible condensation or water spots

- Peeling wallpaper or blistered paint

The dew point is the temperature at which moisture in the air begins to condense.

A common way to measure the dew point is to start with the relative humidity (RH). This is the ratio between the amount of moisture in the air at a given temperature and the maximum amount the air could hold at that temperature, expressed as a percentage.

Think of a cold soda can on a hot summer day. If the surface temperature of the can is 55°F and the dew point of the air is 60°F, condensation will form on the surface of the can.

Moisture can be created by leaks, diffusion through materials or internally.

Nearly 95% of moisture in buildings is created by air infiltration. Always seal crawl spaces and basements so the dehumidifier can work efficiently.  Moisture Restoration
