How to control humidity - LGR PLUS

Controlling the humidity in your home is a must. Whether at home or in your business, you need to control humidity. But a dehumidifier can save you a lot of money. It improves indoor air quality and makes the space energy efficient. A dehumidifier helps prevent the growth of dust mites and mold. In this article, we will look at the sources of humidity and later look at the strategies you can use to control humidity.

How moisture is transferred

The movement of moisture from one point to another occurs in three ways:

- Heat transfer

- Diffusion

- Airflow movement

When air circulates, it usually always transfers moisture from one place to another. The amount of water it carries is what makes up relative humidity. When relative humidity rises above 50%, it becomes a problem because of the increased likelihood of mold growing in the home.

Also, water diffuses easily through materials. When it becomes saturated, it is released into the environment. This condition becomes a major source of moisture in our interiors.

Finally, when water is heated, it becomes steam and can quickly increase the humidity in the house.

Other sources of water in the atmosphere include leaky pipes, steam in bathrooms and kitchens. Potted plants, downspouts, gutters and drains, and clothing ventilation can also quickly increase the moisture content of the air.

How to control indoor humidity?

Indoor humidity control can be achieved by the following steps:

1. identification of the source

This is one of the first things you need to do if you want to win the war against humidity. It ensures that the prevailing humidity in your home is within acceptable levels. You can identify the source with a hygrometer. So, if you notice that there is a high level of humidity in some rooms, you need to find out the reason and decide how to fix the problem immediately.

You may also need to inspect the bathtubs and sinks. Other things you should observe are walls, spalling and water stains. This will help you determine whether or not the home is infested with mold.

2. reduce the moisture content

Once the source of the moisture is known, you need to develop a strategy that will help you reduce the moisture. Some of the things you need to do are:

- Drying spilled water

- Caulking joints and fixtures that could be contributing to increased humidity

- Immediately draining the spilled water

- Installing gutters and reducing the number of downspouts that enter the home

- Leveling the house and making sure it is protected from flooding and water damage

Ventilate the house by opening doors and windows to allow air to circulate inside. But if you live in a humid area, this tip will only increase the humidity in the house.

Another way to combat humidity is to examine different areas of the house. For example, examine the crawl spaces and basement for signs of mold. Look for brown, grayish and black stains on the walls, musty odors and more. Eliminate any mold if it is present.

3. Install LGR PLUS dehumidifier.

After you have eliminated the moisture, do not leave it at that. You need to work hard to make sure moisture does not accumulate. If moisture builds up, mold will develop again. This could quickly lead you into a vicious cycle. But you can avoid this problem by getting a dehumidifier. This is a device that controls moisture and makes it hard for mold to thrive. Dehumidifiers come in a variety of sizes. You can choose between industrial and residential dehumidifiers.

If you want to protect your home from the effects of dehumidifiers, then the small and portable LGR PLUS dehumidifiers might be the best choice for you. They are small in size but huge in capacity. The unit can be placed anywhere in the house. Buy basement dehumidifiers for crawl spaces and basements. They are durable and will keep your basement dry all year long. For commercial and industrial use, the high capacity dehumidifiers are the best choice for you. Also, consider buying other equipment like air scrubbers and air movers for renovation work.

Final thought

At this point, you should be able to tell if your home is infested with mold and dust mites. If you notice constant sneezing and watery eyes from members of your family, this indicates that your home is in dire need of a dehumidifier to regulate moisture levels. CADPXS dehumidifiers will help you get the job done quickly and affordably.
